The winners of The Engineering Club’s ‘Engineering Sketches Prize 2021’ were announced this week during an online event, with two evolve engineers involved in this year’s competition.

Project Engineer Jess Ritchie claimed the ‘Process Sketch’ category with her series of 3D sequencing drawings, created to show the construction sequence for the formation of a residential basement which minimised the need for extensive propping.

Fellow Project Engineer Dan Curtis collaborated on the ‘Concept Sketch’ winning entry submitted by Alex Mowat of the architectural firm Mowat & Company.

Run in association with drawing and visualisation experts, DRAWINGATWORK, this was the eighth Engineering Sketches Prize organised by The Engineering Club.

The aim of the competition is to inspire greater use of hand-drawing techniques when sharing and communicating engineering designs and ideas.

Prizes were awarded in categories covering concept, detail, process, historical and digital sketches. A further award for best overall sketch was also up for grabs, with some fantastic work in the running across all areas.
