On Monday 21 May, evolve Director Martyn Perkins will join a 60-strong pack of enthusiastic amateur cyclists who will depart en masse from the beautiful city of Copenhagen to embark on a gruelling 250-mile challenge to reach Berlin; the destination for the British Council of Offices (BCO) Annual Conference 2018.

So why sign up to this somewhat ambitious endeavour when one could just as easily fly direct to Berlin and save oneself the aching limbs and numb posterior? One word: Barnardo’s. All monies raised by those taking part in this BCO-led initiative in conjunction with Club Peloton will go towards the worthwhile children’s charity; the official charity for this year’s conference. The target for the group as a whole is a substantial £25,000 with over £16,000 raised so far, meaning there is still a long way to go in fundraising terms as well as on the road. All donations are, therefore, gratefully received: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bco-barnados.

A keen marathon runner before family life intervened and blessed him with two kids to chase around instead (he completed 14 marathons with a personal best of 2hr 54mins), Martyn now loves getting out and about on his bike whenever the opportunity arises; and so didn’t hesitate to book his place on the saddle for this amazing adventure.

The route will see the cyclists heading south from the Danish capital to Gensler where they will catch a ferry to Rostock in Germany for an overnight stay. Day Two sees them travel across the north of Germany, then down through the scenic Basedow to Neubrandenburg. On the third and final day, they will push on towards Berlin; finishing up at the conference venue in the city centre where Martyn will meet up with fellow evolve Director Ian who is taking the more sensible (or some might say, easier!) option of flying to Berlin.

The evolve team would like to wish Martyn all the very best for what will no doubt be a tremendous effort and we promise to leave a nice, comfy cushion on his office chair, awaiting his return.

Please support Martyn and the rest of the troop by donating whatever you can to this worthy cause: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bco-barnados.
